Statewide Authorizers
Under South Carolina Law, charter schools can be authorized by the South Carolina Public Charter School District or an institution of higher education. Those schools are able to enroll students from anywhere within the state.
Local District Authorizers
Under South Carolina Law, each of the local geographic school districts are able to authorize/sponsor charter schools within their boundaries. Those schools are only able to enroll students who are residents of the authorizing district.
