The Alliance provides reasonable rates for support services and technical assistance to members for their elections. It takes care of everything from collecting applications to sending out e-ballots and certifying the results. This process ensures integrity and confidentiality in the voting process, compliance with state laws and the school’s charter, and voter engagement with access to e-ballots on smartphones, computers, tablets, or a computer at the school.
The Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina believes high-functioning public charter school boards are one of the most critical contributing factors to the long-term sustainability of a school and the academic success of the students.
We are honored many of the public charter schools have partnered with PCSASC to manage their election process. This process ensures:
The purpose of the board is to advance the mission of the school by governing with policies that ensure the school complies with state regulations regarding charter schools in South Carolina and the school is fiscally sound. Charter schools need board members who are eager to commit their time and energy to stay abreast of the latest legislative issues that impact the school and who have previous experience serving on non-profit or governmental boards.
Per SC Charter Law, boards are elected by the families of charter school students and employees of the school. Each school has various language in its charters and bylaws that dictate the process. PCSASC can make suggestions to amend those documents as requested.
PCSASC helps create a smooth process from accepting prospective board applications on a secure web-based form to hosting the election process online. Basic steps include:
If the bylaws of the school require modifications to the typical board election, we can work with the school to adjust the pricing and timeline to meet the unique needs stated in the bylaws and charter. PCSASC can also train school staff for onsite voting at the school.
